The Utah Transit Authority is now hiring for a new Project Control Specialist to work with our Capital Construction Project Delivery teams. In this role, you will interact with members of our projects team to gather and analyze project data to keep our projects budgets and schedules on track. You would be expected to use various software such as Primavera P6 in this position.
As our Project Control Specialist, you will:
- Manage project control activities associated with the planning and distribution of federal, state, and local resources for various capital projects such as: Streetcar, Light and Commuter Rail, Bus Rapid Transit, UTA facilities, Information Technology, Safety, Security, Mobility Management, Real Estate, and more.
- Oversee multiple design and construction schedules and budgets to ensure necessary resources are forecast and available for each project.
- Prepare staffing plans including contractor and consultant requirements for all projects and coordinates budgeting activities for multiple projects concurrently according to UTA and Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) project requirements.
- Oversee, review, and update project schedules, procurement schedules, and cost status reports to monitor progress for each project.
- Coordinates project control activities with project management teams, consultant schedulers, contract administrators and UTA Accounting department.
- Provide grant support and administration services for multiple UTA departments including reviewing MPRs and FFRs for consistency before they are submitted to FTA.
During training, you will be required to work 5 days a week from our office at the Jordan River Rail Service Center. Training can last up to 4-6 months. After training, your schedule may shift to a hybrid schedule, depending on the needs of the department and your performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- At least 7 years of experience in a business-related field (with at least some of that experience specifically in accounting preferred, but not required)
- Bachelors degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting or Business or related field of study. Masters in Business Administration preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITES
- Familiarity with contracts process and requirements (RFP, RFQ, RFI, MOU, NTP, change orders, etc.)
- Bonding and insurance requirements for contractors
- Disadvantage Business requirements
- Understanding of Federal Requirements regarding Grants and Grant Administration
- LaserFiche, DocuSign, JD Edwards and IPCS Integrated Project Control System preferred
- Advanced skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook preferred
- MS Project or Primavera Preferred
- Organizational, Verbal and written communication, Multi-tasking, Customer service
- Coordinate a multi-disciplinary team of staff engineers, project managers, IT personnel, bus and rail operations and maintenance, and consultants.
